The Virginia High School League released the Class 4 Girls All-State Basketball team Tuesday, and two Pulaski County players are among those listed.

Senior Keslyn Secrist was selected as a member of the first team. Secrist finishes her time as a Lady Cougar as the all-time leading scorer. Secrist scored 489 points this season, along with 260 rebounds, 73 assists, 55 steals and 32 blocks. The Lady Cougars finished the season as the Class 4 State Runners-up, falling to Hampton 63-75 in the State Championship game.

Secrist is joined on the first team by Kennedy Harris and Kaliya Perry of Hampton; Sylvie Jackson of Louisa County; Grace Middleton of Tuscarora; Cyriah Griffin of King’s Fork; Ange Hynokeu of Eastern View; and Amirah Washington of Monacan.


Kennedy Harris of Hampton was named the Class 4 Player of the Year. Shanda Bailey of Hampton was named the 4A Coach of the Year.


Pulaski County junior Hannah Keffer was selected as a member of the All-State second team. She finished the season as the second leading scorer for Pulaski County with 367 points. She also added 191 rebounds, 56 assists, 31 steals, and 22 blocks. Keefer was the leading scorer for the Lady Cougars in the State Championship game with 23 points, two assists, and one block.

Keefer is joined on the second team by AJ Richardson and Jadah White of Manor; Alyssa Carrigan of Tuscarora; Hali Harris of Hanover; Sydney Richardson and Faith Brown of Matoaca; and Niyah Gaston of King’s Fork.


“We’re really proud of all of our girls for what they were able to get done this season,” Lady Cougar Head Coach Scott Ratcliff said. “Having players recognized at the state level is a big accomplishment. Our girls worked hard all season and they’ve gotten a lot of respect and recognition for that. We’re already looking forward to next season.”


All members of the Lady Cougar basketball team, along with several other athletes and students, will be recognized at the next meeting of the Pulaski County School Board Tuesday, April 4, at Pulaski County Middle School.
