The varsity and junior varsity Lady Cougar volleyball teams hosted the William Fleming Colonels Monday at PCHS. By the end of the night, both teams had season opening wins.

“The ladies played well tonight, and we were able to get all of the girls some playing time, which is always good,” JV Head Coach Duane Minnick said. “The next two games will be a good indication of how well our season will go as we take on two of the tougher teams we will play during the season. The girls are ready and up to the challenge, and I’m confident in their game play and communications with each other. As always, it’s a great day to be a Cougar!”
The varsity squad took the floor next, turning in similar results. They won in three straight sets, 25-4, 25-9, and 25-1.
Hannah Keefer had eight kills, four blocks, and five aces. Madison Williams recorded 13 aces in a row and 17 total points off her serves. Madolyn Legg recorded 10 aces. She also recorded eight serves in a row with points. Bethany Lester recorded four assists. Elaina Aust had seven assists and three aces.
“It was a great win to start the season and we are looking forward to the next two games this week,” Head Coach Kylee Conner said. “It’ll be a tough test, but I’m confident our girls will step up.”
The teams will hit the road Tuesday to take on the Carroll County Cavaliers. JV action will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed shortly after by the varsity contest.
