“Our JV girls really showed up tonight,” JV Head Coach Duane Minnick said. “Salem is a well-coached and disciplined team. Every single one of our ladies played with so much heart and intensity. They communicated and executed great tonight. They worked together as a team, and it really showed. I am just so proud of how hard they have been working in practice for the last week or so. The future is bright for PC volleyball. It was a great night to be a Cougar.”

The varsity squad put up a fight, but eventually lost in four sets to the Spartans, 17-25, 25-19, 19-25, and 24-26. Elaina Aust had three kills and two digs. Jacey Hendrix recorded three kills, three aces, and 11 digs. Leah Keefer had four kills and eight digs. Hannah Keefer added 16 kills, six blocks, three aces, and 16 digs. With the loss, the varsity Cougars move to 3-10 on the season.

“We played a very competitive Salem team and the team that was more defensively sound won tonight,” Head Coach Kylee Conner said. “Those close games are tough, but required to continue getting better.”

The Cougars were scheduled to be back in action Thursday, September 28, with a road game at Cave Spring. JV action will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest.
