The Pulaski County High School cross country team travelled to Bristol today to compete in the Region 3D championship meet, hosted by Abingdon High School. At the end of the day, two Cougars punched their ticket to the Class 3 State Championship meet.
Senior Rives Boltwood of Abingdon High School took the top spot with his time of 14:55.40. His teammate, junior Gregory Poisson, took second with a time of 15:33.90.
Pulaski County sophomore Cole Boone finished in third place overall with a time of 15:45.1.
Cougar senior Garrett Kinder finished in ninth place overall with his time of 16:28.30.
Other Cougars runners in competition included Tanner Linkous (34th, 18:17.00), Carter Simmers (47th, 18:52.20), Jonah Morgan (48th, 18:58.30), Landon Clark (57th, 19:25.79), and Zaiden Morris (68th, 20:14.30). Cougars who ran in the earlier race included Gaige Barton, Josh Sechrist, and Milan Patel.
The Pulaski County men finished in sixth place as a team out of 12 teams in the region.
In the women’s race, senior Amanda Ferrante of Abingdon took first place with a time of 18:43.50.
Only one Pulaski County runner was involved in this race, with freshman Chloe Duncan finishing in 61st place with her time of 28:20.10.
“As coaches, we’re very proud of the progress our runner made this season,” Assistant Coach Hannah Alexander said. “We saw a lot of growth throughout the season from all of our runners and this has been a great springboard into the indoor season. We’re excited for the future.”
The Class 3 State Meet will take place Saturday, November 11, at Green Hill Park in Salem.
