Members of the Pulaski County High School Cougar Esports Team saw their first action Thursday in a series of scrimmages against Lord Botetourt and Western Albemarle County high schools. The team will continue to work toward improving their teams and building their program until they get their first regular season matches the week of February 17.
The Esports program allows students to compete against other schools across the Commonwealth in a variety of video games online. Currently, the VHSL is hosting Esports matches in Smash Brothers, League of Legends, and Rocket League.
Cougar Esports members meet for regular practices and scrimmages at the school's TV and Media Production room, where the equipment was installed last year to bring the team into existence.
The Cougar Esports team is led by Head Coach Matthew Reece. We will have more information on the team in the coming days.
