The latest batch of Virginia High School League ratings will find the Cougar football team once again sitting on the outside in the playoff race.

EC Glass stays in the top spot with a 7-1 record and a 27.75 rating. Salem continues to hold onto the second-place spot with a 7-1 record and a rating of 27.62.

Louisa County is the only undefeated team and is in third place with a record of 8-0 and a 26.75 rating. Amherst County is fourth at 6-2 and 23.37. Orange County is fifth at 6-2 and 23.37. Jefferson Forest comes in at sixth with a 3-5 record and 21.62 rating. Western Albemarle is seventh at 4-4 and 21.12. Halifax County sits in eighth place at 4-4 and 21.00.

Pulaski County is now in ninth place at 4-4 and a 20.75 rating. The Cougars have 6-2 Patrick Henry coming to visit this week. They’ll finish the regular season on the road against the 5-3 Christiansburg Blue Demons. A win over either of these teams would likely give the Cougars enough points to lock in a playoff spot in the top eight.

GW Danville is slowly gaining steam and are now 3-5 and have a 20.25 rating at 10th place. Mecklenburg County (1-7, 17.62) and Blacksburg (0-8, 15.37) are mathematically not able to catch up with the rest of the field.

EC Glass, Salem, and Louisa County have clinched a playoff spot when Class 4, Region D action begins. Outside of those teams, the rest could change many ways depending on how they finish out the season.
