Pulaski County Public Schools and Pulaski County High School are pleased to announce our January Senior of the Month, Carter James Smith. Carter’s nominating teacher describes him as a prime example of a student who has fully committed to the Early Childhood Education program throughout his high school years. Not only is he a strong academic performer in his coursework, but he also consistently volunteers to help in various ways. In the early childhood program, students often take on multiple roles, and Carter does so without hesitation. It's amusing to think back to when he first joined us, eager to become a lawyer. But now, he has chosen the path of a teacher, fully aware of the challenges, both good and bad, that come with the profession. It’s the kind of determination and passion that Carter exhibits, which is essential for becoming a great teacher. His dedication is exactly what our school system needs. Currently, Carter is an intern in the program, and he will continue his valuable contributions next semester as a paid intern. We feel it is a privilege to help nurture and grow teachers like Carter, who are committed to giving back and staying in our community.
Upon graduation, Carter plans to attend Radford University with plans to return to Pulaski County Public Schools to teach at the elementary level or with the PCHS preschool program. During his free time, Carter enjoys going to church, playing video games and spending time with his friends and family.
