Members of the Pulaski County Public School community are invited to attend a special event Tuesday, December 12, at Radford University.
The Radford Highlanders men’s basketball team will be hosting VMI at 7 p.m. Members of the PCPS staff and community that are alumni will receive free tickets for the game. There will also be tickets raffled off at each school for students to receive free admission.
During the game, there will be several on-court events that students and staff members will be able to participate in. One of particular note is the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” where fans will throw unused teddy bears onto the court. The bears are collected and then donated to Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital over the holiday. There will also be a time of recognition for a “Teacher of the Game” from each school.
Members of the PCHS Golden Cougar Marching Band will be on hand to serve as a pep band during the game. The PCHS Choir will perform the National Anthem at the start of the game. Cheerleaders from PCHS will be on hand to help Radford University cheerleaders keep the fans fired up.
The game against VMI will be televised around the world on ESPN+. The Highlanders are hoping to have a great crowd to represent the school and area. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
