SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Cougar Families:
It is hard to believe we are at the end of the 3rd quarter grading period and only have 9 weeks of school left before summer break. Please know how grateful I am for all of the support that Pulaski County continues to provide to our students, staff and school community families. The support you have provided during our first three grading periods helped us accomplish many of the goals we set at the beginning of the year, and we are hopeful for continued successes as we begin the 4th quarter on Monday, March 18. This is an extremely important 9 weeks for our school division! We need the Cougar Family to become even stronger and more united as we enter into SOL season and graduation for our wonderful seniors.
Please review the information below and contact a central office or building administrator if you have any questions or concerns. Again, thank you for your commitment and dedication to this outstanding school division!
· Thursday, March 14, 2024 – No school for students. PD/Parent Teacher Conference Day.
· Friday, March 15, 2024 – No school for students. Virtual Teacher Workday from 9-12.
· Friday, March 15, 2024 – Active Shooter Drill at RES for PCPS Leadership Team11:30-3:00…See Below.
· Friday, March 29-April 5, 2024 – Easter Holiday and Spring Break…YEEHAH!
· Monday, April 8, 2024 – Students return to school. 3 Hour Early Release…See Below.
· Elementary Testing Days - Thursday, May 9 and Thursday, May 16…Prek-2 Students Stay Home These Days.
· Secondary Testing Days - Tuesday, May 21 (Only Students Needing to Pass the Math SOL for a Verified Credit Will Attend), Wednesday, May 22 (Only Students Needing to Pass the Science and History SOL for a Verified Credit Will Attend), and Thursday, May 23 (Only Students Needing to Pass the Reading SOL for a Verified Credit Will Attend).
· Friday, May 17, 2024 – PCHS Graduation!
· Friday, May 31, 2024 – Last Day of School with a 3 Hour Early Release.
***Active Shooter Drill – Please be aware that there will be a large number of law enforcement and emergency service employees at Riverlawn Elementary School. No guests allowed!***
***Monday, April 8 – The full solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, 2024. Since the peak time of the eclipse will coincide with PCPS school dismissal, a decision has been made to dismiss 3 hours early for safety concerns.***
I hope all of you have a safe, restful and peaceful holiday spring break. You have certainly earned and deserve this time off with your loved ones and friends!
