After leading Riverlawn Elementary School since 2016, Mrs. Kim Sink will now be taking on a new challenge as she takes over the position of Instructional Coordinator at the School Board Office.

Mrs. Sink graduated from PCHS with the Class of 1995. After graduation, she attended New River Community College to earn her Associates Degree in Police Science.Mrs. Kimberly Sink

“Upon completion of this degree, I quickly realized that the criminal justice field was not for me,” Mrs. Sink said. “So, I enrolled and graduated from Radford University in 2002 with my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies. In 2009 I graduated with my Master’s Degree from VA Tech in Instructional Technology. In 2013, I graduated from Virginia Tech with my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.”

Mrs. Sink began teaching in Grayson County, where she worked for two years. She returned to Pulaski County as a fourth-grade teacher at Claremont Elementary School.

“When Clarmont merged with Draper and Northwood to become Pulaski Elementary, I remained as a fourth-grade teacher for four more years before being hired as a school improvement coach,” she said. “My primary role was to work with the state to implement school improvement strategies for Pulaski Elementary.  In 2013, I became Assistant Principal at Pulaski Elementary School. I was in this role for three years before being appointed as Principal at Riverlawn Elementary in 2016.”

“Some of the best experiences I have had in my career have been at Riverlawn Elementary,” she continued. “The staff and community have been supportive to me during my eight years here.  They have helped me grow as a leader and embraced my innovative and creative ideas.  While I am sad to be leaving the Riverlawn Community, I am looking forward to working with all the schools in Pulaski County as Coordinator of Instruction.  I feel my educational background and experiences have prepared me for this role and I am excited to embark on a new chapter in my career.”

Mrs. Sink will assume her new role July 1, 2024.
