Mission Statement for Racial & Social Equity

Pulaski County Public Schools acknowledges that systemic and institutional inequities, especially in matters of race, remain significant barriers for people and communities working to reach their full potential. We are committed to the principles of equity by requiring non-biased, fair, and non-discriminatory actions, decisions, and treatment of all people who interact with the school system. Our schools will provide an environment that respects every individual regardless of race, gender, intellectual & physical abilities, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, physical appearance, gender expression, family configuration, ethnicity, age, and the language spoken in their homes.

Child Find

Every year, under the federal law known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), millions of children with disabilities receive special services designed to meet their unique needs. For infants and toddlers with disabilities (birth through two years of age) and their families, special services are provided through an early intervention system. For school-aged children and youth (aged 3 through 21), special education and related services are provided through the school system. These services can be very important in helping children and youth with disabilities develop, learn, and succeed in school and other settings.

Edgenuity Pathblazer

Pulaski County Public Schools is pleased to announce a partnership with Edgenuity "Pathblazer" on line school for all K-8 students for summer use. It is the school system's goal that your students have access to this pathway during the summer to help them maintain their progress while school is not in session.

Edgenuity encourages students to use this course 20 - 30 minutes during the weekdays. The concentration will be on reading and math skills and is based on the Virginia Standards of Learning. This program will "synch" with tests already taken to create a pathway for your child. Some students will work independently, while others may be monitored by teachers. During the last days of the current year, teachers and instructional technology staff will work with students to make sure they know how to log on and can access their pathway. Students will keep their chromebooks over the summer to use.

Students can access this once they understand how to do so. However, it should be fully functional by June 21.

  • PCPS COVID-19 Announcement

Pulaski County Public Schools has confirmed one positive Covid diagnosis of a student at Dublin Elementary School. The last day that this individual was present was Friday, November 6, 2020. It has been determined that proper mitigation strategies were followed in the areas where the student was present. The school has been thoroughly cleaned and classes will continue as scheduled. PCPS will continue to work with the New River Health District throughout their processes for investigating and contact tracing positive cases.

Notice to Students & Families- The Pulaski County School Board is committed to maintaining 4 full days of face-to-face instruction each week for as long as safely possible. As the number of Covid cases in Southwest Virginia continues to increase, it is more essential than ever that our students' families become diligent in practicing the recommended mitigation strategies and follow the guidance for quarantining when there is a positive test or possible exposure. The level of adherence to the VDH/CDC guidelines within our schools has thus far been impressive and is the primary reason that we have been able to offer more in-person instruction this year than any other school division in the New River Valley. However, there also seems to be an increased lack of adherence to Covid mitigation strategies within our community as evidenced by the recent dramatic increases in Pulaski County's number of positive cases. It is only by taking the steps necessary to protect each other that we will be able to weather this current storm without having to disrupt the incredible progress that we're making inside of our classrooms. PCPS will continue to closely monitor the data within our community but stands ready to make changes to our instructional program to protect our students, employees, and families if our number of positive cases continues to trend upward.
