Pulaski County High School saw 17 choir students ranging from freshmen to seniors participating in the Virginia Choir Director’s Association Senior All-District Chorus last weekend in Abingdon.
The students rehearsed and worked with their respective directors through the weekend and performed in a culminating concert on Saturday, February 11, at 3 p.m. at the Higher Education Center in Abingdon.
Twelve of the PCHS choral students participated in the Treble Chorus under the direction of Dr. Adam Kluck from Virginia Tech. Those students were Kaya Akers, Brittany Back, Kydence Conner, Kalee Hodges, Kristy Hodges, Jada Huffman, Callie Huss, Carlie Keller, Erica Lutz, Eliza Morgan, Lainey Peake, and Addisyn Slaughter.
The remaining five participated in the Mixed Chorus under the direction of Dr. Hannah Ryan from the University of Virginia College at Wise. These students were Leigha Dunford, Colin Hall, Alexis Moran, Clark Mount, and Bruce Keller.
"I was so proud of my students this weekend,” PCHS Choral Director Angela Talbert said. “They conducted themselves in a respectful manner both on and off the stage. It is wonderful to have taken part in this event. It's the first two-day all-district festival since 2020 (pre-covid)."
One PCHS participant, senior Bruce Keller, was also selected to represent PCHS and District 7 at the VCDA’s All-Virginia Chorus in Richmond in April. Keller was the number one Bass 2 in the district. This is the second time that Keller has been selected for this honor.
