CES EOTY

Critzer Elementary School has selected Mrs. Cassey Davis as their 2022-23 Employee of the Year. Mrs. Davis has worked for Pulaski County Public Schools for 17 years as a Para-Educator.

Mrs. Davis was born in Galax, but raised in Pulaski County. She is a graduate of Pulaski County High School as a member of the Class of 2000. She graduated from Liberty University in 2019.

“Cassey goes above and beyond for all of our students and staff,” Critzer Principal Tony Viers said. “Her positivity and helpfulness are contagious. We are thankful that after 13 years she still calls CES home.”

The nomination form recommending Mrs. Davis for this award stated, “Mrs. Davis is described by her colleagues as dependable, caring, and helpful.  She routinely goes above and beyond to support teacher and student needs. Cassey is always eager to step into any role needed. She does so with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. Mrs. Davis is thoughtful and a joy to have in our school family!”

When asked about most enjoyable and most challenging parts of her job, Mrs. Davis said, “I love being able to help the children reach goals and see how excited they get when they accomplish them. Being able to help others brings me joy.” She then added, “Being a para-educator means being flexible and working in many different classrooms. Because there are several grade levels at Critzer, I’ve learned to interact with children according to their age differences and that took some getting used to after spending several years at Pulaski County High School.”

When not working, Mrs. Davis enjoys sporting events, camping, going to the farmer’s markets, festivals, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, John, have been married for 22 years. They have two children, McKenzie and Dawson, who attend Pulaski County Public Schools.

“My family have always been my biggest supporters,” she said. “When I made the transition from Pulaski High School to Critzer 12 years ago I made a lifelong friend on the first day, Terri Pratt, who has always been there and supported me through the years.”
