Last year, Pulaski County High School and Pulaski County Public Schools began a new tradition with the formation of a Homecoming Parade in the Town of Dublin. At the end of the night that first time, those in attendance had witnessed the largest parade Dublin official could recall.
This year, that parade was even bigger and better!
While all entries were greatly appreciated and dazzled those who came out to show their Cougar Pride, four trophies were awarded for "Best in Class" for different categories.
In the Rec League Division, the award went to the Pulaski County Mite League White Cougar Cheer squad. The team spent their time in the parade performing cheers as they rode down the parade route, encouraging spectators to join in.
In the Middle School Division, the award went to the PCMS Administrative team. Their float featured inflatables, balloons, officials, and a Cougar Pride flag waving proudly.
In the High School Division, the award went to the float created by the Future Farmers of America (FFA), which was pulled by a large John Deer tractor and featured some of the groups many current and former students.
In the Elementary School Division, Tony Viers and the Critzer Critters pulled off a repeat with their huge float that featured a rebuilt set of the “63 Steps to Glory” at Kenneth J. Dobson Stadium/Joel Hick Field and photos of every Cougar Football Head Coach since the opening of the school. Teachers and current students rode the float, while teachers who are PCHS Alumni walked along and carried signs with their graduation years.
The parade drew another huge crowd of supporters, focused on our students, staff, and schools, and plans are to make this event a permanent part of the Homecoming celebration each year moving forward.
Special thanks to our partners who helped make this event such a success, including the Town of Dublin, Dublin Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Pulaski County Department of Parks and Recreation, Pulaski County, the Pulaski County Proud group, the Dublin Library, and Dublin Fire Department. We also thank our special guest judges, “Big Nate” and Curtis “In the Morning” Crowder from WPSK and New River Radio Group; Andrew Webb from WDBJ7; and Duke Carter from WSLS10.
Cougar Pride is alive and well in Pulaski County!
