Video Production Class

Members of the Pulaski County High School Video Production class worked with Pulaski County Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Robert Graham, on a project hosted by the Virginia School Board Association.

The group is asking high school students to express their thought and ideas around the theme, “We Are Better United Than Divided” during the 12th annual student video contest. Each school division is invited to submit one 30 second video that conveys the contest theme.  The top three videos will be recognized at the VSBA Annual Convention.

Judging for the contest will be based on how well the students address the topic, the quality of the production, and the creativity of the video. The format and content of the video is up to the students. Videos can be formatted as a commercial, news broadcasts, music videos, or other formats. Only high school students are allowed to submit videos.

Thursday, Mr. Graham worked with students to decide on the basic format the video would use, the direction it would take, and the basic content it would use.

After the timeline of the video was decided on, Graham was asked to do the voiceover for the content. Students in the class used the equipment in the video production studio to record the script that the group decided on.

“Thank you to Mr. Lundy and his third block students for allowing me to come to their class and participate with them in creating a video for the VSBA video conference,” Mr. Graham said. “I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion we had, and I was very impressed with the professionalism of all the students in that class. We look forward to our submission as I think we have a wonderful shot at winning the competition!”

The students will now have two weeks to put their final product together, which is due for submission no later than October 6, 2023. The video will be loaded on the school’s YouTube platform when completed and will be viewable by the public at that time.

Judging will be performed by independent media and education professionals. We will post the results as they become available.
