In 2022, Mr. Rodney Reid reached the goal of retirement after 30 years in education. After serving as an administrative substitute for Pulaski County Public Schools this year, he will now return to full-time status after being appointed as one of the new assistant principals at Pulaski County High School.

 

Reed graduated from Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, Virginia, in 1972. Hewent on to graduate from Bluefield University in 1977 with a BS in Social Science with a minor in Math. He later obtained his teaching degree from Bluefield University in 1985. He followed up on that by earning his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Virginia Tech in 2003.Rodney and Sarah Reid

 

Mr. Reid began working for public education early, driving a school bus during the second semester of his senior year in high school. He later worked for seven years in a sales position before serving 28 years in Tazewell County Public Schools. During that time, he served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and finally as a principal. He later served as the Seat Time Waiver teacher at the PCHS Cougar Center. He has served as an administrative substitute since September 2023.

 

“I am looking forward to this as another chapter in my life to assist our students to achieve and celebrate success and pride in what they do,” Mr. Reid said. “I am looking forward to being a part of the great leadership team at PCHS.”

 

Mr. Reid is married to Sarah Reid, who will begin serving as an assistant principal at Pulaski County Middle School July 1, 2024.

 

“I am an avid fisherman and enjoy sharing and hearing fish stories,” he said. “We spend our spare time at home with our dog, Jack. We also enjoy visiting with family, being outside, and spending valued time on the water enjoying nature. I am the proud father of two terrific adult sons, Kelly and Josh. I have worked with many administrative teams and am looking forward to working with the best.”

 

Reid will officially begin his new position August 1, 2024.
