Recognize Eleven School Divisions

Winners Recognized at the VSBA Conference on Education

Charlottesville, VA – Eleven school divisions have been honored in the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Excellence in Workforce Readiness Awards. The winning divisions were recognized earlier today at the VSBA Conference on Education held in Short Pump.

Created in 2018 by the VSBA Task Force on Workforce Readiness, this awards program highlights exemplary initiatives in Virginia’s public schools that focus on preparing the state’s future workforce.vsba logo

The school divisions recognized for their outstanding workforce readiness programs are:

Student Population Below 5,000 Students

First Place- Waynesboro City Public Schools, Waynesboro Education Farm

Second Place (Tie)- Lunenburg County Public Schools, Chargers to the Rescue – Lunenburg Animal Shelter Program

Second Place (Tie)- Pulaski County Public Schools, Pulaski County Pharmacy Technician Clinical State Partnership

Third Place- Rappahannock County Public Schools, The Aftermath

Student Population Between 5,001 – 10,000 Students

First Place- Fairfax City Public Schools, Fairfax High School Auto Tech Advisory Council

Second Place- Henry County Public Schools, Career Academy Agrisciences       

Third Place- Wise County Public Schools, Welding/Youth Registered Apprenticeship and Project-Based Learning

Student Population Above 10,001 Students

First Place- Chesterfield County Public Schools, Meadowbrook Academy for Developing Entrepreneurs (MADE) Specialty Center

Second Place- Stafford County Public Schools, Cyber 4+

Third Place (Tie)- Roanoke City Public Schools, Charles W. Day Technical Education Center

Third Place (Tie)- Spotsylvania County Public Schools, Ready-S.E.T.-Go! Externship Program
