The Pulaski County High School Choral Department announced Friday that two students and one alternate were recognized to be representatives of District 7 as members of the 2022 VCDA All-Virginia Chorus.
The VCDA is the Virginia Choral Directors Association. The group is broken down into 16 districts across the Commonwealth. Pulaski County, as a member of District 7, competes with students from Bland County, Bluefield College, Bristol, Buchanan County, Carroll County, Clinch Valley College, Dickenson County, Emory and Henry College, Fries, Galax, Giles County, Grayson County, Lee County, Mountain Empire Community College, Norton, Russell County, SWVA Community College, Scott County, Smyth County, Tazewell County, UVA-Wise, Va. Highlands Community College, Va. Intermont College, Washington County, Wise County and Wythe County.
The annual event brings together the top high school vocalists in Virginia.
James Johnson, a junior, placed first in the Tenor 1 competition. Bruce Keller placed second in the Bass 2 competition. Carrie Blankenship was selected as a second alternate in the Tenor 1 competition.
The 2022 All-Virginia Choir event is currently scheduled for April 21-22. The Pulaski County High School Choral Department is under the guidance of Angela Talbert.
