The Pulaski County CTE Department is proud to recognize their selections for 2022 Employee of the Year and Teacher of the Year.
The 2022 Pulaski County Career and Technical Education Center is proud to recognize our nominee for Employee of the Year, Clyde Prim. The colleagues that nominated him had this to say; “Clyde goes above and beyond to make sure our needs in the classroom are met. He is always a bright light walking through the hallway and is kind and respectful to faculty, staff, and students. The dedication and pride that he takes in his job and his willingness to help everyone at any time during the day are reasons he deserves this recognition. Clyde is a bright spot each day for SO many people in the CTE building. He greets everyone so politely and always asks if there's anything we need. Watching him joke and interact with students is always a joy to watch. However, I need no more convincing that Clyde should be Employee of the Year than when I see him with one of our special needs students. As this young man comes down the hall in his wheelchair, his face immediately brightens when he sees Clyde. He fist bumps the rest of the adults who greet him, but he looks to Clyde for his smiles and his laughs and his trip down the hall to his classroom. As educators, we aim to make a difference in the lives of students...one at a time. Clyde makes an impact every day, but I have no doubt that he has made a lasting impact on this particular young man.”
We are grateful for his service and want to congratulate him on being selected as the CTE Center’s Employee of the Year for 2022.
The Pulaski County Career and Technical Education Center and Pulaski County Public Schools are proud to recognize Ms. Jenny Anderson as the February Teacher our nominee for Teacher of the Year. While Jenny did not start her career path in education, she has now found her calling as a Criminal Justice teacher. She is loved by her students, and is consistently called on to teach additional blocks each semester because so many students want to learn from her.
This year, when Pulaski County Public Schools put out the call for teachers to get their CDL and help with the bus driver shortage, Ms. Anderson stepped up and is now qualified to drive a school bus. The bus shop calls on her when a driver can’t run their morning or afternoon route. Jenny has driven field trips to assist other teachers, and she is currently the driver for all away softball games.
One of her students had this to say about her; “As a leader of Criminal Justice Color Guard and a former student of Ms. Anderson I would personally like to appreciate all the hard work and dedication that she brings, not only as a teacher but also as our Color Guard Sponsor. From my sophomore year all the way up to my senior year, Ms. Anderson has been my biggest inspiration and motivation. She has pushed me to be my best in Color Guard as well as school. As a teacher she is passionate and caring for every student that walks through her door. Ms. Anderson has taught me and the rest of the Color Guard to never give up even when things get hard. She is the perfect definition of a teacher and leader.”
Her colleagues had this to say; “Jenny keeps her students engaged and provides them with unique experiences. She puts a smile on her coworkers faces and always has everyone laughing! She is dedicated, passionate, and motivated to do her daily job as a teacher. But what I love hearing is the respect and admiration from her students towards her. She gives tough love when needed but each student is individually known by her! Her unconventional teaching style reaches every student where they are. Jenny will go above and beyond for her program and her school. She will get that additional certification, take that additional course, and reach out to partners to enhance her curriculum. In the words of one of her students...'she's real’. She cares and takes the time to listen and understand her students. And … I've learned a lot about how to talk with a cop if I'm ever pulled over.”
The faculty, staff, and students are lucky to work with Ms. Anderson. For the past four years, her classes have been requested by students at such a high rate, that she is compensated to teach four blocks, both semesters. Her instructional day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. with no planning. Jenny is always looking for ways to build the Criminal Justice program.
This year, in addition to her teaching responsibilities, earning her CDL, and driving bus routes, she has also taken two graduate classes in Criminal Justice. These classes will allow her second year Criminal Justice students to earn Dual Enrollment credit through New River Community College while they are earning their high school credit and Completer status in Criminal Justice. For all the reasons stated above, we are proud to recognize her as the CTE Center’s selection for Teacher of the Year 2022.
