You can try and try, but you just can't hide that Cougar Pride! Not only did we have five members of the Competition Cheer squad selected to the All-State First Team this week, but we also have several other athletes who have distinguished themselves. Junior Evan Alger won gold at the Class 4, Region D wrestling tournament to bring home a region title. Junior Diego Turner broke the school shot put record ... again ... and is currently the #1 ranked in 4A. Finally, senior Ally Fleenor hit a three-point shot from in front of the visitors bench Wednesday to break the all-time scoring record for Lady Cougar basketball. Our students continue to shine!

Pulaski County Public Schools and Pulaski County Middle School are proud to honor Tina Winesett as Teacher of the Month for Pulaski County Middle School for December 2021. This is Ms. Winesett’s second year as an eighth grade Science Teacher. She always has a smile on her face and she is always researching ways to make her classes more engaging. This year she serves as the Upstairs Team Leader. In addition, Mrs. Winesett has been part of our Extension Team last year and this year with the efforts of extending writing across the curriculum. Those that nominated her shared that she, “Goes above and beyond in helping the eighth grade (club day and extension).” Another stated, “I’m nominating Tina as teacher of the month because she goes above and beyond for her students and also for other teachers. She works hard to lead her upstairs team to success and always has an encouraging, positive word for us.” One nominator said, “Even though Tina teaches science and I teach English, she has provided me with a lot of help during my first year of teaching. She is very patient with students and makes a positive impact on each one. Tina embodies what a good teacher should be — always lending a helping hand, with a smile on her face, even on the hardest days. She is nice to all teachers and students and is so patient with her students! She is a genuine person.” Finally, another said, “Tina is more than willing to help even when it is not asked of her! She goes above and beyond for her students and coworkers!”

Anderson named Teacher of the Month Pulaski County Public Schools and the Pulaski County Career and Tech-nical Education Center are proud to recognize Ms. Jenny Anderson as the February Teacher of the Month. While Jenny did not start her ca-reer in education, she has now found her calling as a Criminal Justice teacher. She is loved by her students, and is consistently called on to teach additional blocks each semester because so many students want to learn from her. This year, when Pulaski County Public Schools put out the call for teachers to get their CDL and help with the bus driver shortage, Ms. Anderson stepped up and is now qualified to drive a school bus when we need her. One of her students stated, “As a leader of Criminal Justice Color Guard and a former student of Ms. Anderson I would personally like to say that I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that she brings, not only as a teacher, but also as our Color Guard Sponsor. From my soph-omore year all the way up to my senior year, Ms. Anderson has been my biggest inspiration and motivation. She has pushed me to be my best in Color Guard as well as school. As a teacher she is passionate and caring for every student that walks through her door. Ms. Anderson has taught me and the rest of the Color Guard to never give up, even when things get hard. She is the perfect definition of a teacher and leader.” Her colleagues wrote, “Jenny keeps her students engaged and provides them with unique experiences. She puts a smile on her coworkers faces and always has everyone laughing! She is dedicated, passionate, and motivated to do her daily job as a teacher, but what I love hearing is the respect and admiration from her students toward her. She gives tough love when needed, but each student is individually known by her! Her unconventional teaching style reaches every student where they are. Jenny will go above and beyond for her program and her school. She will get that additional certification, take that additional course, and reach out to partners to enhance her curriculum. In the words of one of her students ...'she's real.’ She cares and takes the time to listen and understand her students. And ... I've learned a lot about how to talk with a cop if I'm ever pulled over …” The faculty, staff, and students are lucky to work with Ms. Ander-son. For all the reasons stated above, we are proud to recognize her as the CTE Center’s Teacher of the month for February 2022.

Pulaski County Public Schools and the Pulaski County Career & Technical Education Center are proud to recognize our Employee of the Month, Clyde Prim. The colleagues that nominated him stated, “Clyde goes above and beyond to make sure our needs in the classroom are met. He is always a bright light walking through the hallway and is kind and respectful to faculty, staff, and students. The dedication and pride that he takes in his job and his willingness to help everyone at any time during the day are reasons he deserves this recognition. Clyde is a bright spot each day for so many people in the CTE building. He greets everyone so politely and always asks if there's anything we need. Watching him joke and interact with students is always a joy to see. However, I need no more convincing that Clyde should be CTE Employee of the Month than when I see him with one of our special needs students. As this young man comes down the hall in his wheelchair, his face immediately brightens when he sees Clyde. He fist bumps the rest of the adults who greet him, but he looks to Clyde for his smiles and his laughs and his trip down the hall to his classroom. As educators, we aim to make a difference in the lives of students ... one at a time. Clyde makes an impact every day, but I have no doubt that he has made a lasting impact on this particular young man.” We are grateful for his service and want to congratulate him on being recognized as the CTE Center’s Employee of the Month for February 2022.

Eller named Senior of the Month Pulaski County High School and Pulaski County Public Schools are pleased to announce that our February Senior of Month is Anthony Rian Eller. Anthony is the son of Jonathan Eller and grandson of Joyce Eller of Dublin. Anthony received more nominations than any other student in the history of Senior of the Month. All of his nominator’s commented on Anthony’s excellent work ethic, great attitude and his willingness to help out. This willingness and drive will often have you seeing Anthony working very closely with school security and administration during bus wait by tracking buses as they arrive and identifying sub drivers. He is known by his teachers for being incredibly hardworking and for always approaching challenges with a positive outlook. Anthony shows impeccable manners, never complains and has achieved all A’s and B’s throughout high school. He demonstrates such kindness and always makes those around him feel welcome. He exemplifies all of the traits of Cougar PRIDE every day. Upon graduation, Anthony aspires to work for the transportation department and hopes to drive a bus in the future.
